Welcome to Kathys.Art

The pandemic came and what better time to paint.  I hope you enjoy viewing my projects as much as I enjoyed working on them.
Go ahead and explore, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to learn more.  Send me a message.  I'd love to receive your feedback.

Bio

Kathy Frevert Levenson

My goal is to create art that has meaning and brings new appreciation to our role in caring for our earth and ourselves.  May future generations enjoy what we enjoy.

I started painting in pastels around the year 2000. Stuck at home during the pandemic, I decided to try oil painting.  That painting adventure continues. I now have a daily paint practice and find great joy and discovery with each painting.

As an artist, I aim to share wonderous sights found in nature and joyful living.

Education

My more formal art education includes instruction by Hugh Lifson at Cornell College of Iowa, classes at Kline Academy of Fine Art in Los Angeles, the Corcoran Art Gallery in Washington DC, and lessons and workshops with wonderful artists and teachers, including: Sharon Weaver, Connie Randmaa, Anita Wolff, Terri Ford, and Liz Haywood-Sullivan.

Memberships

I served as President of the former Sierra Pastel Society 2006-07 and as Vice President several years thereafter.  I was a signature artist of the Sierra Pastel Society.  Currently I am an associate member of Oil Painters of America and a member of the Folsom Arts Association.  In addition to painting, I enjoy dancing, gardening, cooking, camping, yoga, and traveling.  I live in Northern California in the Sierra Foothills east of Sacramento with my family.
