Welcome to Kathys.Art
Kathy Frevert Levenson
My goal is to create art that has meaning and makes life better. Finding delight in the beauty and power of nature, and recognizing our impacts, I hope my paintings bring new appreciation to our role in caring for our earth. May future generations enjoy what we enjoy.
For many years I was focused on work and family and only had time to dabble. Thanks to retirement and the pandemic, I now paint daily. It has been a challenging process to learn oil painting in addition to pastel painting that I have done for about 20 years.
My more formal art education includes instruction by Hugh Lifson at Cornell College of Iowa, classes at Kline Academy of Fine Art in Los Angeles, the Corcoran Art Gallery in Washington DC, and lessons and workshops with wonderful artists and teachers, including: Sharon Weaver, Connie Randmaa, Anita Wolff, Terri Ford, and Liz Haywood-Sullivan.
I served as President of the former Sierra Pastel Society 2006-07 and as Vice President several years thereafter. I was a signature artist of the Sierra Pastel Society. Currently I am an associate member of Oil Painters of America, associate member of the California Art Club, and a member of the Folsom Arts Association. Activities besides painting include dancing, gardening, cooking, camping, yoga, and traveling. I live in Northern California in the Sierra Foothills east of Sacramento with my family.
